Battery Hold-Down Bracket

February 9, 2002

I was bored today, and looked for something to do. Decided to clean up the bracket that holds down the battery. As you can see, there's lots of battery acid corrosion along one side of it. The bracket itself is covered in a plastic coating. Over time the plastic had cracked, causing the battery acid to seep in and corrode the metal. Also on the other side, which isn't as noticable in the below pic, the plastic had cracked in a few places as well, and the metal had started to rust.

I peeled off all the plastic along the bracket using a utility knife and screwdriver. Then used a wire brush to rid the bracket of the surface rust and acid corrosion.

Then applied a few coats of spray paint over the bracket.

Here it is installed. A little cleaner.
